5 Type of Sneakers Every Guy Must Own Project

After following +GQ's recommendations on Five Shoes a Guy Must Own, I decided to put a little bit of my own spin on it and acquire same amount of shoes, but not as exactly as the list suggested. Let us get straight into it.

The Running Shoes - New Balance 574 Fresh Foam:
As a New Balance product you'd expect comfort. The 574 Fresh Foams are perfect for running, going to the gym or even as an everyday activity shoe like going to lectures or into town. I bagged a pair of the shelves of Office during a sale back in 2015 and I dare say I didn't regret it, although, the tongue doesn't do justice of cover the front of your feet totally.  - £50.00

The Basketball Shoes - Air Jordan 6 Retro Maroon:
GQ's video recommend the  Air Jordan 1 Pinnacle Vachetta Tan as the go to shoe, well it's my own take on the project so I went for something rare - The Nike Air Jordan 6 Retro Maroon and yes it had to be Jays...... - £150.00

The Travel Shoes - Vans
The travelling shoes could be a sneaker or shoe, depending on preference. The sneaker/shoe has to be comfortable, easy going and easily removable considering the multitude of checks one goes through at the airport recently. It would be best in beige, a good colour to pick because it goes with everything. The Vans Chukka Boot would have been perfect considering its variety in colour, size and manoeuvrability in that respect. I eventually went for a regular pair of Vans, beige in colour of course, with white soles - £59.99

Vans

Boots - Nike Air Lunar Force 1 Duckboot:
Boots are for those Fall/Winter months, to combat the cold and withstand the winds, even other forces like snow and hail. These ones took me a bit of time to pick as I was trying to decide on which shoe fit the part most. £150.00

Sneakers you can Wear with a Suit - Converse Chuck Taylor All Star HI Black (Leather):
Because few brands make a sneaker easily wearable with a suit, I picked up a Converse Chuck Taylor All Star HI Black Leather, to give the notion that their shoes. It's sleek, comfortable and easily slipped into, I grabbed shoe pads to prolong longevity and ensure size fitness when it has experienced wear and tear as we know All Stars tend to do that. They can be worn with Polos, T-shirts and Shirts inside Blazers to casual occasions and outings with friends. £60.00

Total Cost of the Project - £470

It took me sometime to finish this project but it is worth it considering how buffed up my rotation has become. I love shoes and if you love shoes you would enjoy this piece right here.

Washing Your Braids

I was getting a lot of stick for not putting up things that females would be interested in so I decided to do something about it. So I got with Nancy Quao, to put together a guideline to help you pretty ladies take care of your braids.

Before you start this process, make sure your nails are filed if there are any rough edges. This is to make sure no hair get tangled on your fingernails during the process.

What you would need;
Shampoo
Conditioner
Rhassoul/Ghassoul clay
Aloe Vera Juice
and any oils you usually use.

There are two methods to achieve your goal:

Method I

Step 1
Mix the shampoo of your choice with warm water in a color applicator bottle.  This is to make the solution less thick and to also prevent thick bits of shampoo getting stuck into the braids. The amount of shampoo depends on how concentrated you want the solution to be.

Step 2
Work through your scalp thoroughly and the roots of the braids with your finger pads and not nails, removing any build ups of products you may have used on your braids such as oils, leave in conditioners and so on. Do not bother washing the whole braids, as the shampoo from the roots will work their way down the whole strand.

Step 3
Rinse it out thoroughly.

Step 4
Prepare your conditioner solution as done for the shampoo, then again, depending on how concentrated you will like it to be. Repeat the same process and gently work it through your hair, with this step; it can be left in the hair for about 10-15 minutes before rinsing out.

Step 5
Towel/ air or blow dry. Whatever is best for you!

Method II

There is an alternative method called the clay/mud wash. For this method, you will need Rhassoul/Ghassoul clay, aloe Vera juice, and any oils you usually use.

Step 1
Using Aloe Vera juice, as your base, add the clay, which is mostly in the form of powder. The amount of clay added depends on how thick you want your solution to be. And then add your oils, (example, coconut oil, Argan oil, nettle oil, rosehip oil, etc.) using the top of your finger to block the cap of the color applicator bottle, give it a very good shake.

Work the solution through the roots of your braids and your scalp, making sure not to use your fingernails as this could unnecessarily grab and pull hair and remove the roots from the scalp.

Step 2
Rinse thoroughly.

Step 3
Towel/air or blow dry.

And you're done, after the hair is fully dried, you can then go on to oiling the scalp.

Paris Cover by JTK

Paris (Cover) by JTK

JTK has been able to use Paris by Chainsmokers to relay his emotions over the past few months, from his trip to Paris, his friends, colleagues, studio sessions, some unforgettable memories and what not. However, JTK is not using the music in the way it was created, the song itself is basically about a relationship and the narrator describing his relationship with his partner which has lasted beyond youth, mistakes and even heartbreak, determined to continue their relation ship despite the difficulty in doing so. JTK in his own way is describing his different relationships with people and how willing he is to stick it out with them, in the same way he would his music career and never forget the people he's met along the way. Check out the Video of the cover of "Paris" by JTK below.

Iron Fist Review

Iron Fist
Iron Fist is not "Spectacular" or what core fans would deem MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) worthy, but it's a decent look into the origin story of one of Marvel's long-buried icons, fleshed out with a new way and with some reasonable changes (e.g the bro-mance between Danny Rand and Luke Cage). After surviving a fatal air plane crash, bar his family (Mom and Dad), Danny Rand, is found by monks from the non-existent place, K'un Lun, raised in the way of the Iron Fist to one day guard the gates against the treacherous threat of The Hand. The origin of Iron Fist the legendary defender of K'un Lun, blessed with the power of Shou-Loa the undying. Iron Fist is a mantle passed on from generation to generation, bestowed onto the only one who can pass the trial, enter Danny Rand, coming back to New York after being  presumable dead for 15 years.

Claire Temple again! Continuing to be the glue these Marvel-Netflix shows have, evidence of how tied together these individuals are, various references to the said individuals that will helm The Defenders TV show in the coming future. There's also some Easter eggs and homage paid to the original character and a subtle tip of the hat to Stan Lee himself. The show holds it own in storytelling, depicting the emotions of Danny Rand, a naive and by-the-book man who is looking for answers to the unexplained death of his parents.

Danny Rand/Finn Jones
I would've never backed Finn Jones to be the lead for Iron Fist, then again Charlie Cox (Daredevil) put critics/doubters to shame, in any case I'm still not convinced about Finn, let's blame it on the unbalanced nature and naiveté of the character his playing + it could be what the directors requested of him. Besides, the fact that Finn Jones was picked ahead of Lewis Tan (who ends up as Zhou Cheng in the same show) rings a bell in what they were looking for in the character; someone without little or not enough charisma and then going to have so much of it eventually. It felt rushed without detailed explanation to some events that occurred, like they wanted to get somewhere quick. The fighting choreography was shittier than Daredevil, The Hand enemies went down way too easy at times especially the ones in The Tournament who were supposedly meant to be difficult to eliminate, but make an excuse seeing as the Iron Fist actually has a para-human ability (and it was just one fist by the way).

It's a good watch for both Marvel and non-Marvel fans and newcomers alike. It's totally not a waste of time as the critics said it was - a hard 7/10.

Horizon Zero Dawn Review

Aloy, Tallneck, Horizon Zero Dawn
Horizon Zero Dawn is a very vivid and beautiful illustration of how the "3005" future meets the gathering and hunting civilisations of the past. Horizon Zero Dawn is the first effort from one Sony-owned, Guerrilla Games, outside the well-known Killzone franchise. A risky endeavour a first thought, but a risk worth the jump.

The events in the game take place a thousand years after a cataclysmic event that robs earth of everything and returns it to the most basic of civilisations, the hunting and gathering survivor. However, what is left of humanity is caught up in a world rid with animal-like machines roaming the earth. The game puts you in the shoes of a young and curious warrior, Aloy, who seeks to find out where she's from and why the world is the way it is.

The story telling sets it apart from other games in the same genre, every quest and or mission is tethered together in a beautiful web which has been carefully constructed in way that appeals to the explorer in you. It is a well made RPG based game, from the skill tree, looting, hunting and gathering and good old collectibles spread across the map. It's a complete balanced diet. At times it felt like a mix somewhere between Assassins Creed (Rappelling Down from high places) and Far Cry's open world (Far Cry III to be specific, the best Far Cry ever made in my own opinion). It wasn't repetitive as different bosses had unique ways to take them down, the world is massive with so many places to explore you forget there's a main story quest to do.

The interaction between characters didn't make me want to care enough for them, the dialogue between characters was dry or better said, uninteresting. Although the cutscenes did well to makeup for this injustice, it just made me want to skip past the conversations and head straight ahead into the next mission.

It is a must-buy for every PS4 owner, a title worth the experience - 9/10
