Proclaiming Independence in Lithuania 25 years ago;

Everyone has a right
To their own heartbeat, Everyone has a right to love Passionately and with no losses, Everyone has a right to the sun, Clouds, sleep and wine, To their own deception, To their own negation, To a full glass of milk, To a tiny silly puppy , (Yet do not say ‘It’s mine’, Just gently stroke its fur) Everyone has a right to play And even lisp, if they like, Everyone has a right to desire, And a right not to think about it, Everyone has a right To run barefoot in the rain, To forget their coat when it’s cold And mismatch their socks, Also a right to dream, That they fly and fall, Everyone has a right to be afraid, Even when it’s not serious, Everyone has a right to their dad, To their mom and a real friend, Everyone has a right to be sad, And cry out loud when they’re in pain, To yourself, the world and God, Everyone has a right to create, To hold a child’s hand, When it’s freezing in winter, Everyone has a right to word, To feelings and memories, Everyone has a right to dream, And laugh when they feel like laughing, A right to undergo anything, For a little bit of truth, Everyone has a right to extend, This list to endlessness.
